Josh is a young man who recently finished high school. Josh has always wanted to run his own microenterprise business and as he enjoys meeting new people and being out in the community, the idea for Welcome Home Gifts was created.
In every community, there are people who are self-employed running their own one-person business. The idea of a microenterprise is to create this opportunity for a person with a disability.
Running a microenterprise can have a vital purpose in improving people’s quality of life by giving a person a valued role in their local community as well as a sense of purpose, increased self-esteem, a larger social network as well as creating employment for others. Employment is an important issue for many people with a disability.
To create a personal touch, Josh is building on his wood working experience gained at high school, by constructing each gift box with support which will help him to develop additional skills and expertise. The boxes can be repurposed in a home thus helping to improve sustainability in our community.
Welcome Home Gifts has been developed to offer gift boxes for real estate agents to gift to their client’s following the successful sale of a home.
